The Governments of Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, of the one part,
and the Governments of the Federal Republic of Germany and Italy, of the other part,
Considering the Convention on Frontier Workers and that concerning Student Employees, concluded by the Governments of Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and signed in Brussels on 17th April 1950;
Resolved, in accordance with the purposes of the Brussels Treaty as revised by the Agreements1) [Red: Bedoeld wordt: „the Protocol modifying and completing the Brussels Treaty”.]signed in Paris on 23rd October 1954, to extend their cooperation in the field of social affairs;
Convinced that the accession of the Federal Republic of Germany and Italy to the above Conventions represents an important step in this direction;
Have agreed as follows:
The Federal Republic of Germany and Italy hereby accede to:
the Convention on Frontier Workers, signed in Brussels on 17th April 1950;
the Convention on Student Employees, signed in Brussels on 17th April 1950.
In witness whereof the undersigned, duly authorised by their respective Governments, have signed the present Protocol.
Done at Paris this tenth day of December 1956, in English and French, both texts being equally authoritative, in a single copy, which shall be deposited in the archives of the Secretariat-General of Western European Union and of which a certified copy shall be transmitted by the Secretary-General to each of the Signatory Governments.
De Regeringen van België, Frankrijk, Luxemburg, Nederland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk van Groot-Britannië en Noord-Ierland enerzijds,
en de Regeringen van de Bondsrepubliek Duitsland en Italië anderzijds,
In overweging nemende het Verdrag betreffende grensarbeiders en het Verdrag betreffende stagiaires, gesloten door de Regeringen van België, Frankrijk, Luxemburg, Nederland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk van Groot-Britannië en Noord-Ierland en ondertekend te Brussel op 17 april 1950;
Besloten hebbende om, in overeenstemming met de doelstellingen van het Verdrag van Brussel, zoals dit is herzien door de overeenkomsten welke op 23 oktober 1954 te Parijs zijn ondertekend1)[Red: Bedoeld wordt „het Protocol tot wijziging en aanvulling van het Verdrag van Brussel, dat op 23 oktober 1954 te Parijs werd ondertekend.”], hun samenwerking op het gebied der sociale voorzieningen uit te breiden;
Overtuigd, dat de toetreding van de Bondsrepubliek Duitsland en Italië tot bovengenoemde Verdragen een belangrijke stap in die richting betekent;
Zijn het volgende overeengekomen:
De Bondsrepubliek Duitsland en Italië treden toe tot:
het Verdrag betreffende grensarbeiders, ondertekend te Brussel op 17 april 1950;
het Verdrag betreffende stagiaires, ondertekend te Brussel op 17 april 1950.
Ten blijke waarvan de ondergetekenden, behoorlijk gevolmachtigd door hun onderscheidene Regeringen, dit Protocol hebben ondertekend.
Gedaan te Parijs, de tiende december 1956, in de Franse en de Engelse taal, zijnde beide teksten gelijkelijk authentiek, in één enkel exemplaar, dat zal worden nedergelegd in het archief van het Secretariaat-Generaal van de West-Europese Unie en waarvan door de Secretaris-Generaal aan elk der ondertekenende Regeringen een gewaarmerkt afschrift zal worden gezonden.
